The EPAC 3000 G2 is a high performance, I/O rich, data acquisition and control computer based on the Zilog Z180 processor. The EPAC 3000 G2 is the second generation EPAC 3000, providing the user with additional features and I/O not found on the EPAC 3000. The EPAC 3000 G2 however, still incorporates the key features that make the EPAC 3000 an industrial strength work horse. These features include: two 16 bit timers, large memory space, 16 channel A/D, serial ports, programmable digital I/O lines, twisted pair networking, and more. Reliability features include: watchdog timer, machine sockets, single rail power supply with on board regulation, optically coupled digital I/O, multi-layer PCB, CPU bus isolation for analog I/O, transient protection for analog inputs and a separate analog ground.

If the EPAC 3000 does not quite have enough I/O to do the job, then the EPAC 3000 G2 is the board for the job. EMAC has added to the EPAC 3000, an LCD interface, three additional serial ports, six additional timer/counters, 16 channels of 12/16 bit A/D, a 7 position DIP switch, keypad interface, char./graphic LCD interface, sixteen interrupt driven digital I/O lines, and an optional 2 channel 12 bit D/A. The EPAC 3000 G2 provides additional expansion through the use of the ENET network. ENET allows up to 32 EPAC single board computers to exchange information effortlessly.

FEATURES

  • CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT: Z180 with 6.144 MHz clock speed.
  • DIGITAL I/O: 8 optically coupled inputs, 8 high drive optically coupled outputs, 20 programmable unbuffered lines terminated to a 50 pin I/O rack compatible header connector.
  • ANALOG I/O: 16 channel, 12 bit analog to digital converter (16 bit optional) with sample/hold and CPU bus isolation.
  • MEMORY: Maximum system memory is 1 MB, 128K of RAM is furnished and 1K bit of nonvolatile EEPROM.
  • COMMUNICATION: Four RS232 serial ports with interrupt support.
  • TIMERS/COUNTERS: Two, 16 bit timers and four, 8 bit timer/counters each with interrupt support and a watchdog timer.
  • LCD INTERFACE: Header connector for OPTREX © DMC series character and Densitron graphic displays, or compatibles.
  • POWER SUPPLY: Single Voltage supply operating from +5 to +15 Vdc. with on board regulation. All CMOS construction insures low power consumption.
  • EXPANDABILITY: 50 pin header connector for use with accessory boards.

 

 

SPECIFICATIONS

  • POWER REQUIREMENTS: Single Voltage supply operation from +8 Vdc to +15 Vdc (+12 Vdc recommended) with on board regulation. Maximum current draw is 150 ma., 130 ma typical.
  • OPERATING TEMPERATURE: 0 to 60 degrees centigrade, humidity range without condensation 0% to 90% RH.
  • DIGITAL I/O: 8 optically coupled inputs that require 7 to 14 ma. sink current depending on pullup Voltage selected. 8 open collector output drivers that can be pulled up to 5 Vdc, the supply, or left open. 20 programmable unbuffered I/O lines implemented using a PPI and terminated to a 50 pin I/O rack compatible header connector. Each line is individually programmable and 16 of the 20 can generate interrupts.
  • ANALOG INPUTS: 16 analog inputs (multiplexed) have a jumper selectable range select +1 to +6 Vdc, and -10 to +10 Vdc, -5 to +5 Vdc, and -2.5 to +2.5 Vdc. Resolution is 12 bits (16 bit optional). The conversion from analog to digital is 10 microseconds. When switching analog channels an additional 3 microseconds is recommended. The A/D is isolated from the CPU bus when converting.
  • ANALOG OUTPUTS: The optional D/A converter has 2 independent channels with 12 bit resolution. D/A output ranges are jumper selectable, with available ranges of: 0 to 10 Vdc and -5 to +5 Vdc. A settling time of 1 microsecond is required for each channel. The D/A is isolated from the CPU bus.
  • COMMUNICATIONS: 2 serial channels with software selectable baud rates of 300 to 38400 baud are provided. Both channels are configured as standard RS232 ports one of which provides handshaking. An optional RS422/485 interface can replace one of the RS232 ports. An additional 2 serial channels with software selectable baud rates of 300 to38400 baud are available via the KIO. An additional RS232 serial port, 300 to 19200 baud, is provided by the I/O coprocessor. Each serial channel has interrupt support.
  • KEYPAD INTERFACE: Interface for 3 by 4 (phone style), 4 by 4 (Hex style), or any matrix type keypad up y 8 by 7 keys.
  • LCD INTERFACE: A dual row 16 pin header is provided which interfaces to OPTREX© DMC series character displays or compatibles. Displays compatible with this are available in many different formats (for example: 16 by 1, 20 by 2, or 40 by 2 char displays.) This header has connections for optional LED backlit displays to allow software control of backlight. An additional 40 pin header is provided that is compatible with Densitron (Toshiba T6963) graphic LCDs.
  • TIMERS: 2 independent 16 bit reloadable timers clocked at 307.2 kHz (standard configuration) are provided. Each timer has interrupt support. An additional 4 independent 8 bit timer/counters are provided by the KIO. These timer/counters each have interrupt support. Two additional 16 bit counters are optionally provided by the I/O coprocessor.
  • MEMORY: Memory space for up to 512K of EPROM/ Flash and up to 512K of RAM. Total physical memory space on board is 1 MB abyte. In addition to the EPROM/RAM memory is a 1K bit serial EEPROM. The EEPROM is a nonvolatile memory organized into 64, 16 bit words with 10,000 write cycles guaranteed and unlimited read cycles.
  • WATCHDOG TIMER: Watchdog timer when enabled, must be software accessed no less than once every second to prevent system reset.
  • EXTERNAL RESET: Optically coupled input pulled low (grounded) will reset the system.
