Many gains were made by utilizing the Geode™ LX800 processor. The LX800 processor provides the lowest power consumption/high speed combination of any x86 processor at these performance levels. These processors also support most popular web plug-ins and leverage existing software and hardware investments. Combined with the CS5536 system chipset and Intel 82551 Ethernet chipset, the SOM-4455 is a low power, high performance platform ready to be integrated with application specific customer Carrier boards covering multiple applications.

The SoM-4455 is designed to plug into an ETX carrier board that contains all the connectors and any custom I/O required for the application. With this System On Module approach a semi-custom hardware platform can be developed in as little as a month. A development carrier board (SoM-DB4400) is available from EMAC, allowing the user to immediately start coding their application.
