Carbondale, Illinois, May 1, 2008 - EMAC, Inc., announces the SoM-5282M, a 32-bit System on Module (SoM) based on the Coldfire MCF5282 processor running uClinux 2.6. This powerful processing engine features memory, 100 BaseT Ethernet, CAN 2.0B, 3 serial ports, A/D, PWM, Timer/Counters, General Purpose I/O lines and a Clock/Calendar. EMAC has incorporated all of this functionality on to a board smaller than a business card and using less than a watt of power. Like other modules in EMAC's SoM product line, the SoM-5282 is designed to plug into a Carrier board containing all the connectors and any additional I/O components that may be required. This approach allows the customer or EMAC to design a Custom Carrier Board, that meets the customer's I/O, dimensional, and connector requirements without having to worry about the processor, memory, and standard I/O functionality. In addition to the option of the developing a Carrier board, one can be purchased off-the-shelf from EMAC. EMAC provides off-the-shelf Carrier boards that feature A/D, D/A, MMC/SD card, keypad, LCD, and modem interfaces.The System On Module approach provides the flexibility of a fully customized product at a greatly reduced cost.
