Carbondale, Illinois, January 15, 2008 - EMAC, Inc., announces the SIB-04200 Rugged Server-In-A-Box. This EMAC XP Server-In-a-Box (SIB) provides an embedded server that is capable of running virtually any Windows XP application program. Windows XP Embedded is the componentized version of the leading desktop operating system, enabling rapid development of the most reliable and full-featured connected devices. Based on the same binaries as Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Embedded enables embedded developers to individually select only the rich features they need for customized, reduced-footprint embedded devices. This operating system is very well suited for applications requiring a Graphic User Interface (GUI). The Rugged SIB is specially designed to live in harsh environments. No Fans, no Hard Drive, and a completely sealed case (with exception of Compact Flash access) allow the Rugged SIB to survive under more negative conditions where other computers can't. The Rugged SIB is just as comfortable in a basement wiring closet as it is on a desktop. The cost of the SIB-04200 configured with Windows XP Embedded is $900 USD at quantity one.
