Carbondale, Illinois, July 15, 2010 - EMAC, Inc., announces the new Standard Server-In-a-Box (SIB). The Standard SIB is a space-saving, rugged design that incorporates a 500 MHz Fanless CPU with 512 MB of DDR2 memory (Atom based 1 GHz with 1 GB memory optional). Also provided is a Compact Flash socket, Accelerated Video, Audio, 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, 4 USB 2.0, 2 RS232 serial ports, and can be configured with an optional wireless card. The Standard SIB can be purchased with XP Embedded Operating Systems or Linux residing on a Compact Flash Disk. When developing with XPE, Visual Studio can be utilized. When purchased with Linux, EMAC combines an advanced Linux embedded operating system with an Eclipse base Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for rapidly creating the next generation of smart, connected and small-footprint devices. This IDE provides GCC Cross compiler, Libraries, GDB debugger, Editor, and Project Manager all integrated into the Eclipse framework, which includes sample projects. The Standard SIB is specifically designed to provide the user with a highly reliable, space-saving, low-power embedded thin client. No fans, no hard drive, and a sealed case (with the exception of the lockable compact flash access), ensure that the Standard SIB is a reliable and rugged solution for almost any application. With power consumption typically less than 10 watts, the Standard SIB is just as comfortable in a basement wiring closet as it is on a desktop. In addition, the Standard SIB utilizes a VESA compatible hole pattern, allowing it to directly bolt to a conventional LCD monitor (requires mounting kit) for a truly thin client. The cost of the Standard SIB configured with XPE starts at $460 at quantity one, with XPE and 802.11g option $495. The Standard SIB with Linux starts at $305.00 at quantity one.
